About
Peter Savage is a photographer based in the South of England specialising in the sport of hockey.
A former player, umpire and technical official, Peter started photographing hockey in 1996 to support his regular articles in the old 'Hockey Sport' magazine. In 2005 he started the web site TalkHockeyRadio using his experience as a former freelancer for BBC Radio Sussex. Since the introduction of digital photography he has turned more towards the photography side of his activities, although he still contributes regular articles for England Hockey News and Push, as well as editing his own on-line hockey magazine, HockeyTalk. His photographs have appeared in many publications, both at home and abroad, as well as being used by leading kit suppliers in their advertising. Peter has covered several Hockey World Cups (both outdoors and indoors), European Championships, Champions Trophies and the London Olympics. He is a particularly keen supporter of the EuroHockey League. Peter is a member of the Sports Journalists Association, the International Sports Press Association, and is a former chairman of the Hockey Writers Club. Peter acknowledges with thanks the support that he receives from Mercian Hockey, and the help and friendship of many great photographers, some of whom are listed on our Links page.
